Full of Wings, Waiting: Hayden Bowen

May 9, 2020 Kate Belew with Hayden Bowen (Los Angeles)

I chewed on butterflies like candy

a mouth full of wings, waiting

for some alteration of mind or circumstance

a different body for myself even

a different mind doused in colored pinions

I am not a monster

I am more like you than you can conceive

trust me, the only difference is

I'm a metamorphosis, an intermingling of time and space

I am hurling towards and away from other

a deluge dismantling the cataract of the known.
