Some Sort of Backwards: Christian Garduno

May 3, 2020, Kate Belew With Christian Garduno (Corpus Christi, Texas)

You said, the sky outside of this is a saffron door

and lately I dream only in purple sirens & surgical masks

sometimes I am chasing a river in those dreams

or have I been slowly turning to stone

some sort of backwards Medusa,

I believe the river's  been running in reverse back to the streams

and it is beautiful.

Think about the unexpected for a moment-

drowsy cityscapes & tiny oceans pooling in your eyes

before washing down your cheeks.

This city answers the call of the void

and I can't say I blame it.
